The producers were looking for twin girls to play the role of Michelle Tanner. Tons of babies auditioned but the Olsen twins were the only ones who didn't fuss and cry - they got the job instantly. The show lasted until 1994 so the Olsen twins basically got to grow up in front of the camera. They learned how to crawl, walk and ride a bike with the camera rolling. -Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen aren't identical. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are what is called fraternal twins, so not everything about them is a mirror image.
